Amazing Fa-Brick — Type II Water Resistance Sculpting Medium Fabric Hardener
Amazing Fa-brick is a transparent textile and decoration hardener. Dip nearly any porous natural materials, such as textiles, into Amazing Fa-brick and it will become stiff and rigid when dry. Drape or wrap your fabric around a wire figure, paper mache or other armature to make sculptures from fabric. Dries transparent or add colored pigment powder to give a new look to your sculpture. After your sculpture has dried, you will have a water resistant work of art which can be used indoors as well as outdoors. For outdoor use where direct rain contact or high humidity is likely, it is recommended your sculpture be sealed with Lacquer. Amazing Fa-brick is a water based polymer. Therefore, it is easy to clean up with water. It will not adhere to plastic and is ready to use directly from the container. Amazing Fa-Brick is a water based fabric hardener with a Type II water resistance rating. This means you can get it wet, but if you put your sculpture in the rain, it will not keep its shape over time. If you want your outdoor sculpture to be protected against water damage, you will need to seal it. We’ve found two products which work well for this. First is Krylon Lacquer in clear gloss, part number 7032. Second is Rust-Oleum Lacquer in clear, part number 1906830. Both products come in a spray can and can be found in most hardware and paint stores. Your outdoor sculpture should be thoroughly dry (could take up to 3 days, depending on humidity and temperature) and rock hard before applying the lacquer spray. Apply lacquer to the Amazing Fa-Brick treated fabric. This will turn your water resistant sculpture into a waterproof sculpture!

Directions
Shake well before use. Place fabric into bowl. Wear gloves and work Amazing Fa-Brick liquid into your fabric until saturated. Wring out as much excess liquid as possible. Your fabric should feel damp, not dripping wet. Take paper towels and blot any excess liquid from the fabric. If you can see blobs of liquid on the fabric, you have too much liquid remaining, keep blotting to prevent yellow/orange discoloration from the type II water resistance ingredient. Now your fabric is ready to sculpt into the shape you want. Working time is about 15 minutes. Drying time varies with temperature and humidity. Tip: make Amazing Fa-Brick thinner by diluting with up to 5% water (distilled water is best.)
Amazing Fa-Brick uses the global standard called GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals). GHS was setup by the United Nations to replace an assortment of hazardous material classifications and labeling schemes used previously around the world. The product label contains “signal words.” There are two signal words, “Danger” and “Warning.” You have probably seen these signal words on your kitchen cleaning products. The signal word for Amazing Fa-Brick is “none.” Another required label element is the “Precautionary Statement,” Most products with the AP or CL seal do not contain GHS labeling elements.The most important safety item to look for is the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) emphasis on Section 2 “Hazard(s) Identification” and Section 3 “Composition/Information on Ingredients.” (Amazing Fa-Brick in Section 3 says “No hazardous ingredient”). Do not depend on a product seal, get the SDS that uses GHS not older than June 1st, 2015. This is the date OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) aligned their Hazard Communication Standard (HSC) with GHS. Most of the world’s countries are using GHS as of 2017. The latest GHS is Rev 8, published in 2019. So, if their SDS is before this date, or they are still using the old MSDS, they are out dated.
